I could not be more delighted to serve as the Assistant Administrator of Sixth Ward Elementary for the 2013-2014 school year.  My standpoint is simple…I love working with children and believe they all can learn.  By identifying and cultivating the seeds of success, found within each child that enters Sixth Ward, I along with our awesome faculty and staff strive to help each child reach their fullest potential.

Prior to becoming an Administrative Assistant, I served as an elementary teacher, Reading Interventionist, Reading Coach, Media Specialist, and Literacy Consultant for Head Start.  During my tenured as a classroom teacher, I was selected as teacher of the year and given many opportunities to travel around the state and country to hone my craft and share my experiences with colleagues near and far.

I received my bachelors degree from Southern University in 2003, followed by my masters degree from Southeastern in 2007.  Recently, I received my Ph.D. from LSU where my research focus involved women in leadership.  I have certifications in a variety of areas that include: leadership, reading, and technology.

I come from a family of service and believe that serving others is not only our civic obligation but our Christian responsibility as well.  With this, I choose to serve and/or support the students, parents, faculty and staff of SWES first and lead simultaneously. My door is always open; ready to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that each one of my students’ achieves his/her personal best.

For as our motto affirms,

“We can, we must, we will achieve academic success”
