Principal's Message

Sixth Ward Elementary students, co-laborers in education, and community partners, we are living in challenging times in education.  We are faced with challenges in our schools such as:  as shift, called Common Core, rapid changes in technology, Bullying of all sorts, and a never ending list of other aspects of education.

SWE staff is dedicated to using achievement data to discover the most effective ways to teach our students.  We have high expectations for our students, parents, and ourselves.  I believe that through trust, hard work, and positive reinforcement of our collective strengths, we will become an even better school.

Strong, rigorous academics are reinforced and enhanced by the many other extras curricular activities offered at SWE.  Our art, music, Student Council, 4-H Club, Social Studies and Science Fairs, ELA and Math Night are all designated to develop real world application, relevance, and a balance to academic skills students learn everyday in the classroom.

I strongly believe that parent and community partnership are an essential piece to the success of a school.  At SWE we are privileged to have parent volunteers involved with enriching the experiences of our students.  Our PTO is a tremendous support and contributes significantly to the educational atmosphere of SWE.

Sixth Ward Elementary is a special place!  The academic excellence we provide to our students and community continues to be our top priority.
